A house that preserves the memory of Margarita Quijano amidst literature, history and elegance.

In this elegant eclectic style house in Colonia Roma lived Margarita Quijano, a fundamental character for Mexican literature in the first half of the 20th century. Teacher and researcher, avid reader and muse of the great poet Ramón López Velarde -to whom she never returned his love-. Great intellectuals of the time paraded through this house, who also frequented La Gacela, a tea room owned by her family, which she ended up attending during her last years. The "lady of the capital", as she was often known, lived in this house until her death in 2002.
The house's soaring heights are accentuated by its carefully chosen moldings and dark wood trim, intricate stained glass windows that color the sunlight, and generous spaces. A luminous studio on the third floor, or its spacious kitchen, are witness to later renovations that add more layers to this property.

In its next opening, Casa Margarita will pay homage to its former owner, using some of its spaces for workshops and literary presentations, as well as promoting a residency program for writers and poets.
