Resignifying a space: a building that brings art and culture back to the San Miguel Chapultepec community

Just two blocks from the Chapultepec forest, the former offices of the Atlantis pharmaceutical company are located, a 6-story L-shaped building that will house one of the most ambitious and complex programs in Mexico City's cultural scene. What was previously a closed property will be opened to the neighborhood, giving an important public space to the community of San Miguel Chapultepec. "Los Amantes", the colossal sculpture that Mathías Goeritz created for the Hotel Presidente in Acapulco, is the centerpiece of this plaza.

The rational building, which used to serve as offices and a small production plant for the pharmaceutical company, will become the stage for a series of cultural crossroads. Artists' studios combine with exhibition, art production and storage spaces. The building will also be nurtured by temporary workspaces, and multi-purpose rooms with views across the city. A café and restaurant will complement the offerings of this new landmark in the city.
