The hotel that was once one of the most emblematic and elegant hotels in Mexico City

Since its inauguration in 1936 and for many decades, great personalities who passed through the capital stayed in its luxurious rooms. Among many other stories, this building is also the subject of a dispute between two of the most important architects of 20th century Mexico: Carlos Obregón Santacilia and Mario Pani. 

New hotels were appearing with features more in keeping with the subsequent decades, making this modern building, its celebrated interiors and its fantastic roof gardenThe building, its celebrated interiors and its fantastic roof garden, fell into decline until it was finally suggested after the 1985 earthquake. After great conservation efforts, the building is in use again, converted into a space for concerts and other events related to culture and the arts.
