Terremoto celebrates its sixth art auction in a large house in Juarez: Barcelona

Warm lights, walls with history and more than 30 works waiting for new hands: last April 2, we opened the doors of Barcelona, a Porfirian mansion, to welcome artists, collectors and friends of contemporary art. An auction organized by Terremoto to which we joined as hosts. From Public Projects we believe in accompanying artistic proposals that strengthen our relationship with one of our fundamental pillars: culture.

The auction brought together works by diverse artists, carefully selected by curator Andrea Bustillos. Among the names participating were Monica Figueroa, Yvette Mayorga, Seba Calfuqueo and more, forming a constellation of languages, generations and geographies that crossed multiple disciplines, from graphics to installation.

As part of an annual tradition, Terremoto invites an artist to intervene in the bidding palettes that accompany the auction. In this edition, the commission went to Ana Segovia, a visual artist whose work explores the construction of identity and the representation of gender in the collective imaginary. For this edition, she presented the series I should probably, probably not."

-Insert testimony from Ana Segovia: As an artist, how do you see the value of independent and collaborative spaces such as Terremoto or Proyectos Públicos within the artistic ecosystem in Mexico?

Opening the doors of our homes to art and cultural spaces is part of the same collaborative network that we seek to spread. Therefore, holding this auction between walls that have also hosted exhibitions and meetings, is a way to continue betting on a creative and shared ecosystem.
